Miss Helen is a genuine World War 2 surviving aircraft, and a fully restored airworthy example of this very famous fighter.

This very aircraft, P51D Mustang G-BIXL 44-472216 “Miss Helen”, flew on combat operations with the 352nd fighter group. The 352nd Fighter Group – was popularly known during WW2 as “The Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney” and were one of the most famous and successful 8th Air Force Fighter Groups based in East Anglia.

What is less well known is that there is currently known to be only a single genuine survivor of nearly 500 P47 and P51 fighters that the 352nd operated during WW2.

The P-51 Mustang was crucial during World War II as it served as a long-range escort fighter.
It featured an advanced aerodynamic design and a powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, which allowed it to achieve exceptional speed, range, and altitude capabilities.
Besides its role as an escort fighter, the P-51 Mustang was highly versatile and performed various combat roles like ground attack, reconnaissance, and even as a dive bomber.
